The 6-Day Smile: Your Day-by-Day Medellín Itinerary
Exactly what a veneers trip to Medellín looks like, day by day — from landing to flying home with a finished smile, with time to enjoy the city in between.
- Day-by-day plan
- ≈ 6 days
- Time to explore
- Finished before you fly
A veneers trip to Medellín takes about 6 days: arrive and settle; smile design and preparation; a recovery day; a try-in to approve the look; final bonding; and a buffer day before flying home. Because the ceramic lab is in-house, even a full set fits one trip, with time to explore the city between appointments.
The itinerary
Your 6 days in Medellín, step by step
A typical schedule — we tailor the exact days to your flights.
Day 1 — Arrive & settle
Fly into José María Córdova (MDE), about 45 minutes from El Poblado, and settle into your stay. Rest after travel; no clinical work yet.
Day 2 — Smile design & prep
Digital scans, photos and your smile design. Teeth are minimally prepared and temporaries placed while your veneers are made in the in-house lab.
Day 3 — Recover & explore
A lighter day while the lab crafts your veneers. Explore Provenza, ride the metrocable or simply rest between stages.
Day 4 — Try-in
You try in the veneers to approve the shape, length and shade. Any tweaks are made before anything is permanent — you have the final say.
Day 5 — Final bonding
Your veneers are precisely bonded, the bite is checked and every edge is polished. You leave with your finished smile and aftercare guidance.
Day 6 — Buffer & fly home
A buffer day for any minor adjustment and to enjoy the city, then fly home with your new smile complete.
How it fits
Why six days is enough — and not rushed
Six days sounds fast for a full smile makeover, and at home it usually would be — because a traditional workflow sends impressions to an outside lab and waits weeks for the ceramics to come back. The reason Medellín can compress it into a single trip is the in-house ceramic lab. Once your teeth are scanned and designed on day two, the lab crafts your veneers on-site over the following day or two, which is why the try-in and bonding can happen later the same week. Nothing about the process is skipped; the waiting is simply removed.
That structure also builds in rest. The clinical work lands on two or three of the days, leaving natural gaps for recovery and for enjoying the city. Veneer preparation is done under local anesthetic and is comfortable; most patients feel only mild sensitivity for a day or two, easily managed with over-the-counter relief. Soft foods for the first day after preparation are a good idea. Far from being a grind, the schedule tends to feel like a short vacation with a couple of clinical appointments woven in.
Between appointments
What to do in Medellín on your free days
One of the reasons patients choose Medellín over a purely clinical destination is that the city rewards the downtime. On your recovery and buffer days, El Poblado puts you steps from Provenza, a walkable zone of cafés, restaurants and boutiques. A short ride away you can take the metrocable for sweeping views over the valley, visit the transformed street-art district of Comuna 13, or spend a day at the colorful lakeside town of Guatapé and its famous rock. The spring-like climate — a steady 20–28°C year round — makes all of it comfortable while you recover.
Practical tips: pack light, breathable clothing; bring any regular medications; and plan gentle activities rather than anything strenuous right after preparation. Keep meals soft for the first day or two, and stay hydrated. You'll be based in a safe, walkable area with taxis and ride-hailing apps everywhere, so getting around is easy. Before you go
Planning your trip the smart way
The whole itinerary starts before you leave home. Send a few clear photos of your smile by WhatsApp; we assess your case, recommend a material and veneer count, and send a personalized plan and quote — at no cost. Only once you're happy with the plan and price do you book flights, choosing dates that give you a full clinical window. We then map the day-by-day schedule around your actual arrival and departure times so every stage fits comfortably.
Choose somewhere to stay in El Poblado, close to the clinic and within easy reach of restaurants and pharmacies. Bring a payment method that works internationally — the clinic accepts USD, Colombian pesos, cards and transfers. And keep the last day as a buffer for any small adjustment. To understand the treatment itself, compare porcelain and zirconia veneers and review pricing before you commit.
What to pack
How to prepare for your veneers trip
A little preparation makes the trip smoother. Pack light, breathable clothing for Medellín's spring-like climate, comfortable walking shoes for El Poblado's hilly streets, and any regular medications. Bring a payment method that works internationally — the clinic accepts USD, Colombian pesos, cards and transfers — and keep digital and printed copies of your treatment plan and travel documents. If you take photos of your current smile before you go, you'll enjoy comparing them to the result. A small supply of soft snacks for the day after preparation is a sensible touch, since you'll want gentle foods while any mild sensitivity settles.
Think about timing your flights to protect the clinical window. Aim to arrive with a full day before your first appointment so travel fatigue doesn't collide with smile design, and keep your departure at least a day after final bonding so there's a buffer for any minor adjustment. Because Colombia sits in the same or an adjacent time zone to the U.S. East Coast, there's little to no jet lag to manage — a genuine advantage over long-haul dental-tourism destinations, and one reason the six-day schedule feels relaxed rather than rushed.
Finally, plan a little enjoyment into the gaps. The whole point of choosing Medellín over a purely clinical destination is that the city rewards your downtime, and patients consistently say the trip felt more like a short vacation than a medical procedure. Book a light activity or two for your recovery and buffer days, keep the first day after preparation gentle, and let the clinic handle the scheduling around your treatment.
